Project

Operations platform

The work continues after a website launches

Website operations combines two related responsibilities: understanding what is happening on a site and managing the changes made to it. Monitoring gives the operational context; maintenance and content updates act on the website itself.

This platform brings those responsibilities together for live websites. The work includes an authenticated command channel, a record of changes and rollback, making the handling of updates part of the platform’s design.

The responsibilities behind an update

Monitoring and controlled maintenance within one operational scope.

  1. Monitor

Observe websites as part of ongoing operations.

  2. Maintain

Carry out maintenance and content operations through authenticated commands.

  3. Record

Keep an auditable history of the changes made.

  4. Reverse

Support rollback as part of handling changes.

Monitoring and change management, shown schematically.

Monitoring alongside maintenance

The platform brings observation and maintenance into the same operational setting. Monitoring is one part of the work, while authenticated maintenance and content operations provide the means to make changes to the websites under care.

An authenticated path to the website

Changes pass through a signed command channel. This makes authentication part of how an update reaches the website, rather than a separate administrative concern. The channel connects the operational platform to the site where the work takes effect.

A record and a way back

Update history and rollback address what happens after a change is made. The record supports traceability, while reversibility is part of the maintenance scope. Together they make change handling a visible responsibility of the platform.

Built around ongoing operations

The project covers live-site monitoring, maintenance workflows, authenticated updates and change history. It demonstrates the engineering involved in operating websites after launch, including how changes are issued, recorded and reversed.
